En
cine existen diversos premios. Los franceses tienen los César, los americanos
los Oscar, los españoles los Goya… La prensa extranjera tiene los Globos de
Oro, la televisión los Emmy, el cine de animación los Annie. Pues la crítica americana
no iba a ser menos, y tienen los Critics’ Choice Awards, formada hace ahora 20
años y compuesta por más de 250 críticos de América del Norte, que viene a ser
un compendio de todos los premios de la crítica entregados hasta ahora. Son sus
particulares Oscar, y marcan el final de la carrera de premios de la crítica.
Así, aunque Marion Cotillard y Rosamund
Pike se hayan impuesto estos meses sobre Julianne Moore, la actriz reaparece
con fuerza y es escogida como mejor actriz del año, a la vez que se confirman
nombres como Richard Linklater, Michael Keaton, J.K. Simmons o Patricia
Arquette, y confirmando a “Boyhood” como mejor film del año. Pero esto no es
todo, sino que al ser un compendio, vienen a solucionar algunos desaguisados
vistos en las nominaciones de los premios de la Academia. En este sentido,
volvemos a ver “The LEGO Movie” como film de animación o “Force Majeure” como
película extranjera, “Birdman” en las categorías de montaje y banda sonora, “Life
Itself” como film documental, o “Gone Girl” en guión adaptado. Todas ellas,
recordemos, ausentes en los Oscar.
La triunfadora en premios importantes,
sin duda, “Boyhood”, que se hace con cuatro galardones, pero superada en
cantidad de premios por “Birdman”, que consigue siete, aunque en uno de ellos
hace doblete al ser proclamado Michael Keaton mejor actor y actor de comedia.
Porque estos premios también se acuerdan de otros géneros que normalmente no
son tenidos en cuenta en los premios, y así podemos ver a “Guardians of the
Galaxy” como film de acción, “Interstellar” como película de ciencia-ficción, o
Bradley Cooper y Emily Blunt como actores de acción, si bien al primero lo
habría cambiado por Tom Cruise. Y, atención, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” como
mejor comedia del año, repitiéndose lo visto en los Globos de Oro y
posicionando muy bien a la cinta de Wes Anderson como rival para los Oscar.
Pero esto no quiere decir que no haya habido
sorpresas. Porque en estos últimos diez días otras asociaciones de críticos se
han pronunciado, y han dado la vuelta a la tortilla. Por ejemplo, los críticos
de Ohio Central han dado por ganadora a “Selma”, a su director y actor
protagonista, mientras que los de Denver han elegido “American Sniper” como
film del año, así como a su protagonista, Bradley Cooper. Por lo demás,
volvemos a ver los nombres de Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal o Rosamund Pike.
